Silkstone Barbies were created to meet collector requests for a doll which represented Barbie's original glamour. However, when Mattel first introduced this beautiful doll (sporting sexy lingerie) in 2000, some mothers, unable to distinguish between a collector doll and one appropriate for children, rose up in protest. Thus, only six Silkstone Barbies were made wearing lingerie.
This lovely doll is made of a very hard vinyl which mimics porcelain and each doll features distinctive makeup, hairstyle, and clothing. Silkstone Barbie, also known as the "fashion model" Barbie, is made in a permanent "model" pose, again making a clear statement this doll was created for collectors and not meant for children to play with.
Silkstone Barbies are made under four labels: pink, silver, gold, and platinum and are packaged in a quality two-piece box which allows for easy removal without tearing up the box.
Lingerie #4 is modeling a heavenly pink bustier ensemble accented with pretty lace. Beautiful platinum blonde hair, blue eye shadow, with a far-a-way "dreamy" look! She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. Near-mint-condition box with minor shelf wear. The tissue is a little distressed, but we only pulled it aside to take photos for you. Hair note: This doll arrived with no hair net. She was sold to us as mint NRFB (never removed from box). Hair looks somewhat frizzy in our photos but it is not. Made in 2002, this now-retired limited edition "lingerie" Silkstone is a must-have for any serious Barbie collector!
