Wearing this pretty blue dress with black and white floral print, Barbie was surely the hit of the '60s dance floor! Dress has a cutout back bodice, with tie at the neck, and a blue silk sewn-on cummerbund and sash.
Let's Dance (#978), one of Barbie's first outfits, was made 1960-1962. Missing in this set are: shoes, purse, and necklace. Doll is not included with this purchase.
I would call this dress good condition. It looks a little "tired" to me. (But then it's almost 50 years old!) There is a very light stain on the back near the center. Original white Barbie label is a little frayed. There are no rips, tears, seam problems, etc. I think this could be spruced up and would be nice for display but is probably not suitable for the "mint" collector.
Per Sarah Sink Eames' price guide in Barbie Fashion, Vol. I, 1959-1967, market value for #978 is "$200 if NRFB (never removed from box) condition. For mint and complete outfits, out of box, subtract 45-50%."
